I'm off to Seoul, South Korea today. I'm the lead mentor for the current students and the new intake of students for the Leadership and Global Perspective Doctor of Ministry for George Fox Seminary.
The program started two years ago and for the first cohort this is their last face to face time, as they say goodbye to me and move onto their doctoral projects and dissertations. The new students get to meet the outgoing, and current students. The growing makeup of the students, with students rom around the world and several women taking part, continues to be encouraging.
We started off in Europe summer of 2010, went to Africa summer of 2011, and are in South Korea this summer. Next year we rotate back to Europe.
We'll be doing research seminars, orientations from me, field trips to churches, business and the DMZ on the border of North Korea. We also have some amazing people set up for teaching at the Presbyterian College & Theological Seminary, where we are going to be based.
You can follow along with the students postings and discussions at their site, www.dminlgp.com.
Given how I do not do well with hot weather, Seoul's 30 degrees C, and near 100 humidity will be a challenge!
I've also been asked to speak/teach/preach as a mega Church in Seoul next sunday. That should be an experience.
