My mother attempted suicide 2 weeks ago, and died last Monday, all in all a very traumatic experience.
With that in mid, I'm in Cambridge at a research event on theology and ethics, and this event caught my attention, Dying Well. It's on September 15th, at the The Simeon Centre for Prayer and the Spiritual Life.
It seems that the Victorians were obsessed with talking about death and prudish about sex, yet now our society is obsessed with talking about sex and avoids talking about death.
Maybe this event will go some way to help people talk about death. I just wish I wasn't away and good make it.
