Theos event invitation: The Great AV Debate, Tuesday, 3 May 2011

May 2011, the UK will hold its first national referendum in a generation. The issue at stake is the voting system for national Parliamentary elections and the choice is seemingly simple: should we retain the First Past the Post system, or change to the Alternative Vote?

Proponents of each system have been arguing their case with increasing levels of heat, but casting very little real light on the decision facing us.

On 3 May, Theos, in partnership with Charities Parliament and King's College London’s Faith and Public Policy Forum, is holding a debate which aims to help people better understand the options on offer, placing them in the broader context of why we value what we value about democracy. Speakers from the No2AV and Yes2AV campaigns will debate the issues and answer questions from the floor.

The event, entitled The Great AV Debate is free, but if you would like to attend, please e-mail to register for a place.
