post-modern aesthetics, apologetics & cardigans

Reading this tweet on twitter from Len Sweet, and the suggestion that 'aesthetics is the pomo apologetics', got me wondering why, and how depressing if that is the case (the ongoing experience of Len Sweet is the provocation into reflection).

Sometimes I think all conversations and aspirations for church are in danger of collapsing into aesthetics. We can talk mission, consume mission, and ultimately re-package mission, but can we actually get on and do it?

Then with that thought rattling around, I was reading Fernando Gros just now and at the end of this superb post 'driscoll, cardigans and kicking people in the head', he riffs then links to a great quote and post, about Karl Barth, cardigans and the aesthetics of 'fashion'.
