The other day it hit me, as it does every year with escalating force, of the dissonance of being a country that celebrates Christmas, with almost nothing of Jesus in that celebration.
Then I read this article by the think tank Theos, that reported that only 12% of adults could answer some very basic questions about the christmas story, and children knew even less.
What was most concerning was that of 'church goers' (or at least people who identified themselves as church goers), 36% of them new the answers. Not a stellar remembering of the most memorable and celebrated part of the christians story.
The I wondered, what would be the results if we surveyed our church community???? :-)
