I am coming to the end of my sabbatical. It's been an amazing time, to rest, reflect, read, and talk with people. One highlight has been visiting a church in Seattle, and speaking there. I got to spend the night with Jim & Barbara Henderson of Off the Map, Dave Richards (Jim's partner), and Rose and Rich Swetman who co-pastor the missional community. To get there I had to continue to face (at a whole new level) what was in the past one of my worst fears, flying.
So I flew down to Seattle in the smallest plane I have every been on. I had to climb over two seats on my hands and knees to get into the front seat next to the pilot. It was a seaplane, and was one of the most exhilarating experiences of my life. The plane back (in the photos below) was spacious in comparison to the flight down. I thanked God that for someone who suffers general anxiety disorder, and couldn't get on a plane a few years ago, I had come a long way.
We all suffer fears of some kind, how do yours manifest?:-)
